Artwork & Copyright Policy
Last updated: 1.2.26
At Apparel Direct Limited, we offer custom printing services using artwork, logos, and designs supplied by customers. This policy explains the rules and responsibilities relating to artwork submissions and intellectual property.
By submitting artwork or placing an order with us, you agree to the terms in this Artwork & Copyright Policy.
1. Customer Responsibility for Artwork Rights
By providing artwork, logos, images, text, or designs to Apparel Direct Limited, you confirm that:
- you own the artwork, or
- you have written permission or a valid licence to use and reproduce the artwork, or
- the artwork is legally permitted for commercial reproduction
This includes (but is not limited to):
- business logos
- sports team logos
- club designs
- band artwork
- school branding
- licensed characters
- images from the internet
- photos
- copyrighted slogans or graphics
You accept full responsibility for ensuring that your artwork does not breach any copyright, trademark, or intellectual property rights.
2. Copyrighted and Trademarked Material
We will not knowingly reproduce artwork that infringes on copyright or trademark laws.
This includes unauthorised use of:
- well-known brand logos (e.g., Nike, Adidas, Disney, etc.)
- sports team branding
- copyrighted cartoon characters
- music/band artwork without permission
- artwork copied from online sources without licensing
We reserve the right to refuse any job that we believe may violate intellectual property laws.
3. Indemnity (Protection for Our Business)
By submitting artwork to us, you agree to indemnify Apparel Direct Limited against any claims, legal action, damages, costs, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from the printing or use of customer-supplied designs.
This includes claims related to copyright infringement, trademark infringement, or misuse of intellectual property.
4. Artwork Quality and File Requirements
Print quality is strongly influenced by file quality. Please note, all files other than vector files are required to be re-developed into vector files for printing. Charges will apply.
For best results, we recommend submitting:
- vector files (AI, EPS, PDF, SVG), or
- high resolution PNG files with transparent background, or
- high resolution JPG files
Low quality artwork may result in:
- pixelation
- blurry printing
- jagged edges
- colour inconsistencies
If your artwork is not suitable for printing, we may request an improved file or offer design assistance at an additional cost.
5. Proofs, Mockups, and Customer Approval
Where applicable, we may provide a digital proof/mockup for approval before printing.
It is your responsibility to check all details including:
- spelling and wording
- design placement
- sizing and scale
- garment colour choice
- layout and alignment
Once approval is provided, we are not responsible for errors that were present in the approved artwork or proof.
6. Colour Matching Disclaimer
Printed colours may vary due to:
- monitor/screen colour differences
- garment material and fabric colour
- printing method used
- ink and production variations
We do our best to match colours as closely as possible, but exact colour matching cannot be guaranteed unless agreed in writing.
7. Modifications and Artwork Setup
We may need to adjust artwork files to prepare them for printing. This may include:
- resizing
- converting formats
- minor cleanup
- layout adjustments
Any significant changes will be discussed with you prior to printing.
Artwork setup fees may apply where design work is required.
8. Storage of Artwork Files
We may store customer artwork files for future reprints, repeat orders, and record-keeping purposes.
If you would like your artwork removed from our records, you may request deletion in writing.
Please note that deletion may prevent us from being able to fulfil re-orders without resubmission.
9. Offensive or Prohibited Content
We do not print designs that contain content that is illegal, hateful, abusive, discriminatory, or otherwise inappropriate.
We reserve the right to decline any artwork submission at our discretion.
10. Ownership of Final Printed Goods
The ownership of the final printed goods transfers to the customer once full payment has been received and the order has been delivered (or collected), subject to any applicable legal rights.
However, ownership of artwork remains with the original copyright holder.
11. Apparel Direct Limited Design Work
If we create artwork, layouts, or original designs for you (unless otherwise agreed in writing), those designs remain the intellectual property of Apparel Direct Limited until full payment is received.
After payment, the customer may use the design only for the purpose agreed (such as printing apparel through us), unless additional rights are granted in writing.
